Dhawan replaces injured Murali for Sri Lanka tour

NEW DELHI: Shikhar Dhawan has been drafted in as the replacement for injured opener Murali Vijay for India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, the BCCI said on Monday.

Vijay, who had suffered a wrist injury during Australia’s tour of India, complained of pain in his right wrist, while playing a preparatory match. The BCCI medical team advised that the 33-year-old should continue his rehabilitation program.

Dhawan returns to the Test team after last playing for India against New Zealand in October 2016.

India are due to tour Sri Lanka for a three Test series followed by a five-match ODI series and a lone T20I, starting from July 26.
